No Bumbos for Dumbos

ABC News reports that the makers of Bumbo is voluntarilly recalling their seats because there have been 28 infant accidents associated with it.

Now, the Bumbo chair itself didn’t harm the children. It’s the goofy parents who put their children in their Bumbos and then place them on tables and countertops that put these kids in harm’s way.

The box that Avery’s came in clearly said DO NOT PLACE ON HIGH SURFACES AS CHILDREN MAY FALL OUT, CRACK THEIR HEADS OPEN AND SPILL THEIR BRAINS ALL OVER THE FLOOR or something like that.

And even if the box didn’t contain a warning, any person with just a little bit of common sense would know that it might be trouble if you put your child in the Bumbo on top of any high surface. The darn thing is nothing but foam! There is no belt to keep your baby in place. Nothing! So why wouldn’t you, goofball, keep your child at arm’s length anyway in case they arch their backs? I am not holier than thou, and believe me I have made some dummy moves in my very short time being a parent, but that’s like rule #1 for me when it comes to Avery and seats: never place on raised surfaces, but if I really, really need to, I make sure he is at arm’s length.

Recall the parents, not the chair.
