And when I approach him, he smiles.
That’s pretty cool.
He has needs that I can’t meet.
I feel like an inadequate father.
Bottle - check.
Diaper change - check.
Binky - check.
Walk around the house, bouncing him around - check.
He’s still wailing. Is there something I’m missing?
Avery must be going through a growth spurt. I fed him 100 mls of breastmilk at 11:00 am and by 12:30 pm, he started rooting and wailing again! I gave him 50 mls more but not even 5 minutes after that was finished, he started crying hysterically and rooting once again. I just now finished giving him an additional 50 mls and his hand is in his mouth again. Oh boy..
But I thought babies’ tummies at this age could only hold 4 ozs? Where is all this food going?
This is the exact reason I’ve started supplementing with formula, much to Melvin’s dismay. My breasts simply can’t keep up with the demand here! I pump as much as physically possible, but by the end of the night, we’re short about 2 feedings. My goal here is to only give Avery formula for 2 feedings in one day.
Which means that I would need to pump even more often.
Which means I would need to get off this computer now.
Calgon, take me away!!!
It doesn’t help when available ‘free’ help comes packaged with overhead costs.
And I’m not talking about money.
At Avery’s weigh-in today, he was 8 lbs., 6 ozs. Atta Boy!
